After my Pecha Kucha talk about Interiors, a number of people approached me to ask where our cool art comes from. A couple of people asked me if I painted them… which I LOVED. Sadly, I am not the artist; much of the art I shared in the Interiors talk is from Etsy which is like Ebay for people who create their own art.
Here’s how the folks at Etsy describe their service:
Our mission is to empower people to change the way the global economy works. We see a world in which very-very small businesses have much-much more sway in shaping the economy, local living economies are thriving everywhere, and people value authorship and provenance as much as price and convenience. We are bringing heart to commerce and making the world more fair, more sustainable, and more fun.
After moving to Japan, I was surprised and delighted to learn that most of the artists on Etsy are happy to send paintings to us in Yokohama via courier.
I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Here are four paintings we have purchased from two different artists on Etsy.
Location: Tel Aviv, Israel
Pratt Creek Art
Artist: Angela Moulton
Location: Elmhurst, Illinois, United States
This painting reminds me of my childhood… only the title would be more like, “Doug (my father), the cows have jumped the fence again.” This beauty is on its way to Yokohama right now!
