The Sunday Lists (9)

About Sundays Evenings
I find Sunday evenings tough. This is not a new phenomenon but it’s getting worse as I age. (I pause, here, to remind myself that aging is infinitely better than the alternative and, for that, I feel nothing but gratitude.)

So how does a girl milk every last drop of sweetness from the weekend? On Friday night, we accompanied DPs parents to a Madeliene Peyroux concert at the magnificent Palau de la Musica and, after the performance, DP and I took a moment to say good-bye to our all-time favourite music hall. I talked to both of my parents on skype… Friday was my dad’s 76th birthday and today was Mother’s Day in Canada. We saw three films… The International which was good (not great), Wolverine which was good fun, and the new Star Trek film which is simply BRILLIANT! (DPs word.) Like people on vacation, we ate when we were hungry and slept when we were tired. The alarm clocks were temporarily banished from our little kingdom. I signed up for a “Pro” membership at Flickr and spent some time uploading shots and arranging them into sets and collections. (That may not sound like everyone’s idea of a fun time but I loved it!) You can take a look at some of my phtographs here. My flickr name is Monna McD. (I know… it’s not very original.)

Seeking New Music
DP and I have been in a bit of a music slump lately. We’ve been lost in a vast and terrible musical wasteland. I was desperate to find some new tunes, some new artists, some new sounds. Of course, I did what any reasonable person would do in my position… I surfed for new music until three o’clock in the morning. Until I was so dizzy, I could hardly walk to my bed. I’ve assembled a mellow play list called Sunday Songs 2 (this list makes me so happy!) and published it on i-tunes so that I can share it with you.

**Update: If you are reading this post via e-mail or on Google Reader, the table below is not visible for some reason. Please click here to see the list.

NOTE: If you click on the little arrows to the right of each song , an i-tunes window will open and you’ll be able to listen to a clip from each song. (I believe that you must have i-tunes on your computer for this to work.)

What we didn’t do this weekend:
1. Throw out or recycle any clothes or books for the move to Bangkok
2. Clean the kitchen/bedrooms/apartment in general
3. Finish the laundry
4. Read the novel for Book Club on Tuesday evening
5. Eat enough vegetables

Alas! Enjoy the play list and every moment of the time you have left in your weekend.

TELL ME… I’d love for you to leave me a comment about the music you are grooving to right now. Thanks!

  1. Sounds like a great weekend to me! Monna, have you tried Pandora (www.pandora.com? I subscribe and listen ad-free (I think it's nine dollars every three months) or you can do the free version and listen to ads. What you can do there is create stations based on your favorite artists or styles of music. Then the station plays similar music from a huge database. I always hear tons of stuff I've never heard and end up coming up with new music to buy.

  2. @Mara from Mother of All TripsI LOVED your recommendation about Pandora. I am using the free version for now. Thanks for the cool tip.You were right. It was a great weekend!@AprilI know neither so I will check them out as soon as I can. Thanks, sweetie!
